Recent work

Makers
sponsored
our
first
online
event
with
220
Year
9
girls
in
October
2022.
We
ran
coding
and
UX
design
workshops
and
a
Q&A
with
women
software
engineers.
After
the
event
there
was
a
50%
increase
in
students
likely
to
study
Computer
Science
GCSE
and
a
20%
increase
in
those
likely
to
pursue
a
career
in
tech.

Digitas
hosted
five
Year
10
girls
for
work
experience
in
January
2023.
They
learned
to
make
Snapchat
filters,
got
involved
in
client
workshops,
worked
on
an
idea
for
a
new
video
game
and
pitched
it
to
senior
leaders.
Two
of
them
were
interested
in
tech
careers
before;
now
all
five
are!

Google
hosted
30
Year
11
students
for
a
day
in
December
2022.
After
a
tour
of
the
offices
and
speaking
to
women
in
different
roles
about
life
at
Google,
74%
wanted
to
study
Computer
Science
A
Level
and
96%
planned
to
pursue
a
career
in
tech
(ideally
with
Google)!

Government
Digital
Service
hosted
four
Year
10
girls
for
work
experience
in
February
2023.
Two
shadowed
software
developers,
one
worked
with
the
recruitment
team
and
one
with
the
finance
team.
All
four
were
motivated
to
pursue
a
career
in
tech
and
they
all
want
to
do
another
Next
Tech
Girls
placement!

NBCUniversal
hosted
four
17-18
year
old
girls
for
work
experience
in
July
2022.
They
learned
how
tech's
used
in
film
and
TV
production
and
heard
about
tech
roles
they
didn’t
know
existed
before.
Two
of
them
are
now
on
tech-related
university
courses,
with
the
other
two
planning
to
join
them
next
year.

tech
recruitment

Empiric

2016
to
tackle
the
skills
and
gender
gaps
in
the
tech
industry.

We
partner
with
companies
and
educational
institutions
to
run
inspiring
tech-focused
events
and
work
experience
placements
for
teenage
girls,
with
a
focus
on
those
from
lower
income
or
ethnic
minority
backgrounds.

By
showcasing
diverse
women
in
tech
as
relatable
role
models
and
giving
girls
hands-on
experience
and
insights
into
a
career
in
tech
at
a
critical
age,
when
studies
show
their
interest
tends
to
drop
off,
we
are
shaping
their
futures
and
the
future
of
the
tech
industry.
